The Medical Faculty at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf integrates study, teaching and research in human medicine and dentistry as well as in health sciences and basic sciences related to medicine.

The research profile of the Medical Faculty addresses the essential challenges of medicine in the future. It is characterised by interdisciplinary collaborative research, especially in cardiovascular medicine, which pursues a forward-looking cooperation in close collaboration with diabetology and metabolic research as well as the Centre for Health and Society. Furthermore, the institution has a long tradition of excellent collaborative research in molecular and clinical liver research. Infectious medicine and cancer research as well as a broad spectrum of translational neurosciences complete the formative research areas at the campus. University Medical Centre Düsseldorf is also a partner and member of the Center for Integrated Oncology (CIO ABCD) and the West German Genome Center (WGGC).

The model course of study "Düsseldorf Curriculum Medicine" for our more than 3,000 students focuses on interdisciplinary knowledge transfer, a pronounced patient orientation and practical instruction already in the first semesters. In this way, medical studies at HHU are aligned with the competencies that make up the medical profession today and tomorrow.
