Application and Admission

We are pleased that you are interested in studying at the Medical Faculty of Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf!

With so many universities and application options, it is easy to lose track of everything. Here you will find the relevant information on the topic of application and admission to our faculty quickly and bundled.

State-Certified Programs

Every year, we make around 400 places available for first-semester medical students. If you come from Germany or another EU country, you can apply via Hochschulstart. The application deadline is July 15 for all those who graduated from high school in the same year, and May 31 for former high school graduates.

In addition to the Abitur average, the Test for Medical Studies (TMS) plays an important role as a selection criterion in Düsseldorf. The TMS takes place every year in May at various locations throughout Germany. You can always register for the TMS from December 1 to January 15. A completed service, e.g. an FSJ, or a completed vocational training in the medical field, will also have a positive effect on your chances of admission.

For non-EU applicants, the application process is handled directly by HHU. In this case, the average grade of the university entrance qualification is the only admission criterion.
