Studying Medicine as a Parent

It is clear to us that as a parent you will be studying under special conditions, where you will have to meet many requirements. We would like to support you in this. On the one hand, you will find a parent-child room in the O.A.S.E., which offers you the possibility to bring your children with you.

On the other hand, as a medical student, you can participate in courses that are preferably held at more family-friendly times. Please contact the Online Registration department in the Office of the Vice Dean for Teaching and Study Quality if you would like to be placed in a parent-friendly group.

During medical school, you will be doing patient placements. Here, too, we would like to support you by giving you preference for completing your internships in practices and clinics close to home. Please contact the Online Registration department in the Office of the Vice Dean for Teaching and Study Quality.

Of course, these offers also apply if you will have children during your studies.

A lot of helpful information about the compatibility of studies and parenthood is provided by the FamilyCounselingOffice of the HHU and of course the staff of the Office of the Vice Dean for Teaching and Study Quality is available to help you with words and deeds.
