Equipment
The O.A.S.E. offers not only a specialist library for medicine, but also modern study, consultation and learning rooms. Area-wide Wi-Fi and network connections at the workstations ensure smooth Internet research on your own PC. The numerous computers in the e-learning room can also be used by students for research or booked for courses. Many group study rooms are equipped with displays or interactive whiteboards. In addition, a parent-child room is available for better compatibility of family and studies.
With the "Room for Development" and the "Forum of Exchange" , the O.A.S.E. provides two event rooms of different sizes that can be booked for meetings, conferences, lectures and other events.
Study Areas and Group Spaces
The main feature of O.A.S.E. is the learning areas and group rooms, where students have the opportunity to learn and work in a quiet atmosphere. All rooms are equipped with power and network connections. Many group rooms have modern media technology in the form of interactive whiteboards or TV screens.
The open learning areas and the group rooms on levels 1 - 3 are available for free use by all faculty members. For a use of the group rooms a booking via the ULB booking system is strongly recommended! Users without a booking must vacate these rooms when they are occupied. Please also note the terms of use. A booking is possible for a minimum of two persons. Both need a valid borrowing card. No more than four bookings per week and per person can be accepted. A maximum of three hours can be reserved per day and per person. If there are several bookings for the same room, this can only be done with an interruption of at least two hours.
Forum of Discourse
On the first floor of the O.A.S.E. is the "Forum of Discourse". Multifunctionally, it can be used as a meeting place, conference hall, lecture room or also as a venue for events. The "Forum of Exchange" can seat up to 70 people (with theater seating), but conference tables can also be set up as an option.
Modern technology makes it possible to show presentations and videos on a large screen. The speaker's station is equipped with connection possibilities for a notebook via HDMI. In addition, a permanently installed sound system with hand-held microphones as well as for sound transmission from the notebook is available. For optimal projection results, the room can be darkened with curtains.
The Forum of Exchange can be booked as a venue via the reservation form.
Room for Development
Prominently located on the mezzanine (level M) is the "Room for Development". The conference room with a view into the cafeteria and the "Forum of Exchange" offers space for about 20 people. Meetings and conferences can be held there in a relaxed working atmosphere. Modern presentation technology including a beamer, overhead projector and screen is available in the "Room for Development". A presentation notebook can be borrowed for presentations if required.
The "Room for Development" can be booked as an event location via the reservation form.
E-Learning-Room
The O.A.S.E. has an e-learning room with 18 PC workstations on the fourth floor. The PCs are equipped with the most important programs (Microsoft Office and Acrobat Reader, Firefox, VLC Media Player, among others). The room is available for use by any member of the university, but can also be booked as part of courses or seminars. The e-learning room is very well suited for this purpose because it is equipped with a speaker's workstation including a SmartBoard and a beamer.
A university ID is required to use the PC workstations. The room can be booked for closed (teaching) events via the O.A.S.E. reception.
Parenting Room
A service for students with children is the parenting room. This room with a furnished children's play corner offers children the opportunity to play and rest while their mothers and fathers are working and studying. On a play carpet, children can ride trains and cars, and various games and painting utensils invite them to join in. Afterwards, pillows allow for a comfortable rest. Mothers can use a nursing pillow for breastfeeding, and there is also a folding changing table.
