Providing a Screencast

In the following we outline the procedure in detail if you want to provide a new screencast

1. first you produce your screencasts comfortably on your own PC or laptop.

To do this, first create a screen presentation with the slide format: 16:9
Then you dub each slide individually. Alternatively, if you want to edit your slides during the presentation, for example, you can also use the "Record screen presentation" function.
Please export your screencast as video (mp4) with medium quality (1280 x 720 pixels)
To make your screencasts easier to find in the media library, we would ask you to match the title of the screencast to the title of the event in the timetable. Furthermore, we would ask you to always include the subject or study block. In the case of a series of events, it is recommended to use numbering. Please also always indicate the author in the title - example: TB5 Topic of the screencast_Author_3/4
Tip: If you want to reuse your screencast in the next semester, design your slides without a semester reference.

2. please fill out this form afterwards!

You will then receive the upload link for your study or topic block by mail. 4.

Afterwards, please upload your screencast to Sciebo. After the upload is complete, the name of the successfully uploaded file will appear below the upload area. 5.

5. as soon as your screencast has been made available by us in the media library, you will receive a notification from us. Normally, screencasts received by 12 noon (Monday-Friday) will be posted by the next business day. Please note that we usually have longer processing times at the start of the semester. Please provide us with your screencasts as early as possible. We thank you in advance for your understanding.

Further Instruction

  • Sorting: The screencasts are usually organized in video series per study / subject block and subject in the media library and also sorted by time or subject (please specify thematic order in the form).
  • Metadata: By default, we store the following information in the metadata: Semester, Speaker, Topic or Study Block, Subject. If required, we include the event date and time in the metadata.
  • Linking in ILIAS: The eLearning office publishes the links to the video series centrally in ILIAS in the category of the respective study or topic block. In addition, you will receive the link to your screencast from us, which you can either share in your course or send to students, e.g. by e-mail.
  • Camtasia Campus License: The "Camtasia" program offers advanced video editing capabilities. The Camtasia campus license is now available through the HHU software store.
  • Activation: This is done by default for the block coordinators and their deputies. You are welcome to nominate additional persons for whom the screencasts should be activated. Please keep in mind that these persons will then have access to all videos of the entire block.
