Course of study
The Master's degree course in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy usually lasts two academic years (four semesters). In the first year of study, the focus is on university teaching, the professional qualification activity II and the research internship. The courses follow the semester structure. In the second year, the professional qualification activity III, self-reflection and the final module including the Master's thesis are completed. Absences are planned here, but the practical work placements and the Master's thesis can also take place during the course-free periods.
The practical training seminars, patient treatments and research internships require regular attendance on site in Düsseldorf. Despite individual hybrid courses, it is therefore not possible to study “remotely” or as a distance learning course.
The course of study is planned in such a way that graduation is possible within the standard period of study. An important criterion for this is the internship placements during the standard period of study for the practical work placements (BQT-III). The outpatient part of the BQT-III internship takes place at the psychotherapeutic outpatient clinic of the University Hospital Düsseldorf, the (partially) inpatient part takes place at the LVR Klinikum Düsseldorf. Sufficient internship places are available here during the standard period of study. Solutions are sought together for individual deviating study courses. Due to the high parallel requirements for academic qualification and the acquisition of psychotherapeutic skills, graduation within the standard period of study requires continuous commitment on the part of the students. We will support you as best we can.
