Operating theatre simulation course ‘Fit for the surgical operating theatre’

The new surgical simulation course ‘Fit for the surgical operating theatre’ is aimed at anyone who would like to improve their surgical skills for clinical traineeships and the practical year.

Target group:

  • Medical students from the 4th semester onwards
  • Students who have already gained initial experience in the operating theatre
  • Anyone who would like to actively participate in surgical clinical traineeships

Course content:

In our simulation operating theatre at the training centre, we provide practical and intensive training in the following areas:

  • Instrument skills: Detailed introduction and practical exercises on handling surgical instruments.
  • Behaviour in the operating theatre: Practical simulations that teach the correct behaviour in the operating theatre, including draping and positioning.
  • Equipment knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of the most important operating theatre equipment
  • Scenario training: Realistic exercises to get to know and internalise the procedures and requirements in the operating theatre.

Our experienced tutors are OTAs (operating theatre assistants) who will pass on their knowledge and practical experience directly to you.

Number of participants and requirements:

  • The course can be taken from the 4th semester onwards and is ideal as preparation for upcoming practical blocks and clinical traineeships.
  • A maximum of seven (at least three) students can take part in each session.
