Equipment
The Flow Cytometry Core Facility currently operates two analyzers and three sorters.
The analyzers are available for both self-service and full-service, while the sorters are exclusively run by our trained personnel. For cell analysis, we provide the CytoFLEX-S (Beckman-Coulter) and the FACS CantoII (BD).
For cell sorting, we offer two distinct systems with a total of three instruments: two cuvette sorters, the BD FACS AriaIII and the BD Symphony S6, and one jet-in-air sorter, the MoFlo-XDP (Beckman-Coulter). This range of instruments allows us to sort a wide spectrum of different sample types.
The CytoFLEX-S from Beckman-Coulter is equipped with four lasers and 13 fluorescence channels.
It features both a semi-automatic tube loader and a plate loader for the 96-well plate format. This allows for the measurement of standard flat-, U-, and V-bottom plates, as well as up to 1 ml deep-well plates.
By changing the standard configuration to the Violet-SSC configuration, this analyzer is also suitable for the analysis of smaller particles (>80nm).

For the V-SSC configuration, the 525/40 filter on the 405 nm laser detector deck is removed.
The BD FACSCantoII is equipped with three lasers and eight fluorescence channels.
It features both a tube loader and a plate loader for the 96-well plate format. This allows for the measurement of standard flat-, U-, and V-bottom plates.

The BD FACSSymphony S6 is equipped with six lasers and 33 fluorescence channels.
Available nozzle sizes are 70μm, 85μm, 100μm, and 130μm. Sorting can be performed in up to 6-way into 5ml tubes. Furthermore, various combinations of tubes and plates, as well as slides, are available for cell deposition.
The sort modes are adjustable between purity and yield. Populations can be sorted up to Level 16 in the gating hierarchy.
