Mission statement for Studying and Teaching at the Faculty of Medicine

The Medical Faculty of the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf is a community of students and teachers, which develops in lively interaction and mutual appreciation. The teachers actively support the personal and professional development of the students, whose initiative is encouraged. The learners support the teachers in the further development of their specialist areas.

Our graduates

  • know the physical, mental and social dimensions of health and disease,
  • have basic medical skills,
  • provide differential diagnoses and independently develop therapy concepts,
  • know the basics of scientific work,
  • think critically, taking into account reliable findings and (in the clinic) the individuality of the patients, and make decisions on this basis,
  • act in accordance with ethical principles,
  • communicate with patients and colleagues in an appropriate, sensitive and respectful manner,
  • know their personal limits and deal with errors openly and appropriately,
  • have skills in self-organization and time management,
  • take into account basic health economic conditions,
  • impart their knowledge to others and
  • are ready to learn and develop throughout their lives.

Our teachers

  • are contact persons, confidants and role models for students,
  • are didactically competent and competent in terms of content and willing to develop continuously,
  • are in lively dialogue with students and other teachers,

Our curriculum
